| Als Mark Twain noch in Hannibal die Schulbank drückte, stellte der Lehrer für einen Klassenaufsatz folgendes Thema: „The Result of Lazineß“, „Die Folgen der Faulheit“. Der angehende Humorist behandelte das Thema durchaus eigenartig, denn nachdemer eine volle Stunde daran gearbeitet hatte, gab er als „Folgen der Faulheit“ - ein leeres Blatt ab! | When Mark Twain was still at school in Hannibal, the teacher set the following topic for a class essay: „The Result of Laziness“. The budding humorist treated the topic quite peculiarly, for after working on it for a full hour, he turned in as „The Result of Laziness“ - a blank page! |
