Breitengrad rasch auszubessern, oder ob dieser Wiggins, was vielfach vermuthet wird, wirklich Nichts versteht, das von im prophezeite gewaltige Erdbeben ist ausgeblieben, und die südlichen Neger, die bereits darauf vorbereitet waren, auf der Himmelsleiter die Ersten zu sein, sind enttäuscht, sie müssen sich noch länger in diesem irdischen Jammerthal herum treiben, der Himmel scheint auf eine so massenhafte Einquartierung noch nicht vorbereitet zu sein.</td>

	<td>Daß übrigens ein Narr zehn macht, geht daraus hervor, daß neuerdings jeder „Crank“ in s Prophetengeschäft geht, selbst der privilegirte Narr Mark Twain konnte sich das Vergnügen nicht versagen, den Dummen ein wenig einzuheizen. Er hat auf den 3. Oktober einen Meteorfall vorausgesagt, der den ganzen Continent bedecken wird. Da die Wiggins'sche Prophezeiung nicht eingetroffen, so wird sich hoffentlich Niemand über den Ulk Mark Twain's alteriren, und der 3. Oktober jedenfalls ebenso ruhig verlaufen, wieder 29. September. - Die dumme Unheilsverkündigung hat wenigstens ein Gutes, es genirt sich Niemand darum, selbst die gläubigen Milleriten können wohl kein zweites Mal veranlaßt werden, sich ein Himmelfahrtsgewand anzuschaffen.</td>
	<td>Incidentally, the fact that one fool makes ten more is evident from the development that every “crank” has recently gone into the prophecy business; even the privileged fool Mark Twain could not deny himself the pleasure of giving the fools their due. He predicted a meteor shower on October 3rd that would cover the entire continent. Since Wiggins' prophecy did not come true, hopefully no one will be upset by Mark Twain's joke, and October 3rd will be just as calm as September 29th. - The stupid proclamation of doom has at least one good thing, nobody is bothered by it, even the devout Millerites cannot be induced a second time to acquire Ascension garb.</td>
