The coffin was then lowered into the ground and soon a mound of wreaths and other floral offerings piled up over the spot where Mark Twain was buried. Among these gifts of Flora, one magnificent wreath caused a special sensation, which had been sent, as the inscription said, by 500 students of the Louisville College in grateful remembrance of the many pleasurable hours the humorist had given them with his writings.</td>
