Diese Wettfahrten wurden schon in den dreißiger Jahren des 19. Jahrhunderts geübt und ergaben sich meist zufällig, wie noch heute gelegentlich auf dem Atlantischen Ocean, wenn zwei Greyhounds um den Record [k]ämpfen.
