Clemens (Mark Twain) sei täglich in der Avenue des Champs Elysees zu sehen. Er sei mit der Abfassung mehrerer Bücher beschäftigt. Poultney Bigelow (Kaiser Wilhelm's Freund) halte sich auf der Reise von Algier nach London in Paris auf. Er will ein Buch über Deutschland schreiben, für welches ihm der deutsche Kaiser seine eifrige Beihilfe zugesagt hat.</td>
