Unter der Petition stehen unter zahlreichen anderen Namen auch die folgenden: Carl Schurz, George F. Edmunds, J. Sterling Morten, Gev. S. Boutwell, Charles Francis Adams, W. D. Howells, Mark Twain, Rev. C. H. Parkhurst, W. Bourke Cockran, Robert Treat Paine, T. R. Boyesen, Bischof Vincent, Anton Phelps Stokes, John Burroughs, William Lloyd Garrison u.s.w.</td>
<td>Senator Hoar presented to the Senate a petition signed by distinguished citizens of the United States that hostilities in the Philippines be soon brought to an end.
